Martha graduated with an Honours degree in Speech & Hearing Therapy, from the University of the Witwatersrand, in 2007. She has been working as a Speech- Language Therapist and Audiologist for the Gauteng public health and education sectors, for the past 16 years. Since 2009, she has been working at Forest Town School. This is an LSEN school in Johannesburg, for children with special educational needs. She is currently the acting head of the speech-language therapy department. She completed a Masters degree in Speech-Language Therapy in 2020, from Stellenbosch University. and authored a journal article that was published in 2021.
